It may seem a bit late to some of you for lilacs, but ours here up North are at peak right now! It smells so good when we walk outside, or even just have our windows open. The air is just saturated with the scent! We live in my Grandmother's old house, and when we were growing up, there were a couple of big lilac trees. Years ago, my father dug up babies from those two trees, and planted them in a row along the back of our yard. We now have a total of 14 lilac trees lining our yard. This year they are covered with blossoms, and they are a sight to behold. I thought I would share a few photos I took over the weekend. --Keri

I love the smell of lilacs...I bet it smells sooooo good outside. We can't grow them down here, but certainly remember how beautiful they are up in Wisconsin. That is great that your dad planted the "babies"...they are probably an heirloom variety that are better than anything you can buy today. P.S. Where is the picture from that is on your new header? Gorgeous.
Oh Keri, may I come live with you ? **LOL** Your yard is stunning, and I can almost imagine the scent all the way in Singapore, trapped in apartment living as we are. Brodie Blue is gorgeous !
those lilacs are spectacular! i'm very jealous. my lilac didn't flower this year! i know - strange - i think we had so many weather ups and downs (30's one day 80's the next) it messed things up - at least i think that is what happened. i so look forward to smelling them too. They have to be one of my favorites- bring back wonderful childhood memories in just one sniff. enjoy yours while they last ;-)
very pretty keri. love the new look for your blog. very you.
Those are gorgeous! I LOVE lilacs, I grew up in Michigan and we had a couple trees in the yard - now I live in Texas, and we can't grow them here. I miss them!! Thanks for sharing your beautiful photos, it takes me back. I just saw your post on SCS, I'll add you to my Google Reader! :-) Happy Blogging!
ohmigosh! What a beautiful photo and such a pretty row of trees! I honestly don't think I've ever smelled real lilacs; I don't think you can grow them in CA, even though we grow everything else, LOL!
Ooh ooh ooh, I can almost smell them - and that is one gorgeous photo with the butterfly on the blooms - lovely!
Oh what wouldn't I give to have lilacs so lovely! I've never smelled anything on this earth as perfect as the smell of a lilac bush and to have such a quantity of mature bushes! Wow, what a treat. I'm sure you CAN smell them inside the house when the windows are open. You deserve it after all the horrible cold and snow you endured this past winter!
